"There was once an adventurous boy,
With eyes set on foolhardy joy, Rebellious in nature, with a taste for danger, This magical marvel he could not ignore. His head spun dizzy with delirious delight, Ignoring the signs, he plunged in with all his might, Torn asunder, he wondered how, We ask you ladies and gentleman, who is the maniac now?” This was a fun group installation project that my students and I did for PTEM’s art exhibition: Art in Motion 2013. We were given the school amphitheatre to work with, and we wanted to produce something made entirely out of recycled items. The school overlooks Meragang Beach, which inspired this concept. ABOUT THE ARTWORK 95% of this installation is made out recycled materials such as used plastic bottles, cardboard boxes, used canvases and wood, old highlighter pens, wire mesh, wire string, acrylic paint, cotton string and PVA glue. Thank you to all who kindly collected and contributed their used water bottles, to the tutors who donated rolls of aluminum foil to us, and to family and friends who helped with everything else!
