My sister commissioned me to paint her as a mermaid🧜♀️ She specifically asked for me to include her favourite sea creatures. It is primarily painted in oil paint but I used a bunch of different mediums to create the effects. I always like incorporating both visual and physical texture to make it a little more interesting. All the cut out sea-life were painted with gouache and acrylic. I added my signature triangle patterns as abstract corals & used rose gold accents to capture the shimmering effect of underwater.

PORTERABIA GIFT BAG DESIGN

I was asked to design the official gift bag for the brand Porterabia, a company that sells abaya's from Saudi Arabia. The client wanted a Raya/Ramadhan themed design which exemplified a union between Arab & Brunei cultures. I decided to showcase that through traditional dress and the sharing of each country's traditional food. The bag is peppered with stars as well as golden "Bunga Putar" (swirling flower) patterns. I also wanted to showcase the Bunga Kertas (Bougainvillea flower) as it is commonly grown potted plant used to decorate the outside of houses in Brunei. And finally, for festive Raya vibes, I had to include a lantern (based on the design of a lantern found in the Jame' Asr Mosque), ketupat and colourful light bulbs. The client also requested for a marble textured backdrop.
